Children develop expectation based on experience, and adapt to their surroundings; we attribute this phenomenon to the effects of nurture.
With time, children become familiar with their environment and act upon it; they become strong enough within themselves that they may cause the environment to adapt. This, then, must be what we call nature.

Take Flight
A day when I was younger, I confided in a boy that I was a Forest Princess. I disclosed that I could fly, and that the animals talked to me.
“At one time,” I told him, “this was so for everyone.”
In my heart I hoped saying this would somehow make it so.
The beauty of my belief – that this could be true, that saying so could make a thing so – was the closest I have come to flight.
